Carol Lynn Pearson:
We are delighted to announce that this Hearth Fireside will be filmed by a documentary film crew! They are being sent here by Dan Reynolds, the lead singer of Imagine Dragons, to capture some of the great outreach being done here in our Hearth Community! See below for more exciting and important details about the filming!
Sunday, July 9th at 7:00pm
3865 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA
Carol Lynn Pearson is our very own Bay Area treasure! We our thrilled to have her coming back for an encore presentation. She is a long-time pioneering advocate for LGBTQ Mormons, best known for the book Goodbye, I Love You, a memoir of her marriage to a gay man who died of AIDS in 1984. Her more recent books include No More Goodbyes: Circling the Wagons Around Our Gay Loved Ones and The Hero's Journey of the Gay and Lesbian Mormon.
The film crew will be filming the audience as well as Carol Lynn Pearson, and may want to interview some of you as well! Highlights from the evening will be included in a Documentary being put together by Dan Reynolds, to be shown as part of the recently announced "Love Loud" festival he is sponsoring in Utah later this summer (August 26th). The mission of the festival is to "foster conversation and deeper understanding in faith-based communities about what it means to truly love and accept our LGBTQ+ friends and family."
In a recent interview, Dan shared that the festival will give people an opportunity to "Come together to listen to music and to speakers who will talk about how important it is for families to not just accept their LBGTQ children, but to let their children know they’re beautiful the way they are." Barb and Steve Young will also be speaking at the festival!
Please invite your friends to join us at this upcoming Fireside with Carol Lynn Pearson on July 9th! This is an amazing opportunity to share with a broader audience our efforts here at the Hearth to increase love and understanding, one heart at a time! It would be really fantastic to have a large supportive audience.
(Important note: a photo release will need to be signed by each individual attending the event. You can download here. Please bring a signed copy of the release with you to the Fireside. We will have extras at the door as well.)
