Please join us for dinner and a conversation about the Come Follow Me sections in the Doctrine and Covenants for June. In these sections the Saints are told about going to Zion, a promised land, located in Independence, Missouri. It must have seemed to those early Saints that Zion was ready and waiting. But Zion is not a place you just move to, it is a place you choose to build every day. Come join the conversation about how we build Zion today in our hearts, in our homes, in our communities.
Scripture Focus
The Lord tells us that it’s not good to be “commanded in all things” and that we should be “anxiously engaged in a good cause.” D&C 58:26-27 It is easy to feel fear when trying to build something new or different. It feels safer to wait for someone else to come along and tell you what to do or how to do it. But our Heavenly Parents are eager to engage in the work of creation with us. “Be of good cheer…for I am in your midst and have not forsaken you.” (61:36) Don’t get discouraged in trying to create changes that are needed. “Be not weary in well doing for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great.” (64:33)
What good do you feel compelled to do that isn’t written in a handbook? What opportunities to do good do you see around you that are not getting done? What small things can you start doing that can build into something great?
