Join us for a lively discussion with Bob Rees. An OG LGBTQ ally, a “progressive-yet-faithful” “provocateur of good,” poet, scholar, and tireless advocate for love and inclusion. Bob draws on a long life of devotion to intellectual and spiritual engagement with themes that help move the Restoration forward toward a more inclusive, accepting, Christ-centered Church led by ongoing revelation. How can each of us imagine and reimagine such an effort?
Until his retirement, Bob was Director of Mormon Studies at Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. He is the co-founder and Vice-President of the Bountiful Children’s Foundation, and co-founder and president of FastForward for the Planet, a non-profit initiative currently focused on saving Great Salt Lake
Bob has published widely on Mormon and Religious Studies. His most recent book is Imagining and Reimagining the Restoration which beautifully explores new ways of thinking about Heavenly Mother, Christ-centered worship, finding women through a more imaginative reading of scripture and Church history, as well as opening our hearths, homes, and chapels to our LGBTQ members.
Bob has served as a bishop, member of the Baltic States mission Presidency, high councilor and Institute Teacher. Currently he and his wife, Gloria, are engaged in interfaith work in Marin County. He can be reached at bobrees2@gmail.com.
